It is a very exciting day for our next LCM featured artist Tilly Moses, who is releasing her debut studio album 'Alight & Adrift'. Tilly is a nineteen year old mandolin player and singer songwriter, originally from Suffolk, but now living in York. She has been writing and performing from just thirteen years old. Our LCM #TrackOfTheDay is one of the lovely lead singles 'Footprints' from the new album, which is available to purchase through her website. 

Already an experienced performer Tilly has already played alongside and supporting some incredible UK Folk musicians, such as Mawkin, The Unthanks, Gilmore & Roberts and the legendary Dave Swarbrick. Tilly features frequently on BBC Introducing and has had songs featured by Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1 and by Tom Robinson on the BBC 6 Music Mixtape, as well as being a regular performer at FolkEast festival, Beverley Folk Festival, Bute Fest and many more around the country.

It’s been a few years since releasing her EP 'Painted Faces' and Tilly is thrilled to this year to release her debut album. Tilly says ˜I've wanted to release an album for a long time; I’m very passionate about each and every song on the album, and each one has been written with emotional honesty and authenticity at their centre. Many are about personal experiences - from things as simple as the comfort that comes from sitting and reading in the company a loved one, to things as complex as pondering the permanence of the mark I’ll leave on the world. Many deal with social and political issues, such as mental illness, climate change, and gender politics. I hope to produce a thought provoking album, that both presents personal experiences of modern life and ties in the folk tradition. I’m really pleased to be working with the wonderful GingerDog Records.'

Although usually a solo performer, Tilly is delighted to be joined on the album by some exceptional talents, such as BBC Folk Award Winner Sam Kelly, BBC Jazz Award Winner and Mercury Prize nominee Kit Downes, and the fiddle player James Delarre, from the BBC Folk Award nominated band Mawkin. Also joining Tilly are young, multi-instrumentalist and virtuoso recorder player Finn Collinson, from the rising young folk duo Shorelark, and the fantastically insightful singer/songwriter Samuel McKie.
